Queen Bee-Ish Story
Queen Bee-ish was created in July 2020, the name itself stems from the name we honor my mother Edwina Betts with as one of the matriarchs in our family. The Queen Bee takes on many definitions but the words that define our Queen Bee are: Leadership, Vital, Unique, Strong. Edwina, has a love for shoes and would wear the best and highest heel to accentuate her curves and fashion.
In January 2011, our mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Multiple Sclerosis (MS) involves an immune-mediated process in which an abnormal response of the body’s immune system is directed against the central nervous system (CNS). Some of the symptoms are but not limited to : vision loss, pain, fatigue, and impaired coordination. The part that has affected our Queen Bee the most is impaired coordination. As her MS has slowly progressed it has affected her ability to wear certain types of shoes (no heels). It is because any unleveled or slightly raised surface can lead to her potentially falling and causing more damage. Throughout the years we have seen these incidents happen and being as such she has resulted to wearing basic shoes.
Therefore, she decided to live her shoe dream and passion through my younger sister and I, and her nieces. Anytime she saw a heeled shoe she would say "I love those shoes!", "You're wearing those heels aren't you?" or " I'm living my shoe dreams through you." So when you see the Queen Bee-ish logo you will see orange because that is the color of the ribbon that represents MS. We have two official character's that represent Queen Bee-ish, the Queen Bee of course and the Monarch Butterfly (orange and black). The Monarch Butterfly is a representation of MS, the orange awareness ribbon is for Multiple Sclerosis. The butterfly is because when you look at an MRI of the brain, it is shaped like a butterfly. The multitude of colors in the butterfly represent the constant changing symptoms and unpredictable course of MS.
Our name is tribute to her, Our tagline "Let Us Heel You" is in hopes that they will find a cure to heal MS. But until there is one Let Queen Bee-ISH Heel You with the perfect shoe because every Queen deserves a perfect fit.
